CAMPAIGNERS have called for action to tackle “pervasive and persistent” harassment of girls after a survey suggested that half of Britain’s young women faced unwanted sexual behaviour this summer.
High levels of harassment on the streets have continued unabated throughout the pandemic, a poll by Plan International and Our Streets Now, published today has found.
A fifth of the 1,010 young women and girls, aged 14-21, surveyed experienced harassment during the spring lockdown, included being catcalled, followed, groped, flashed and upskirted.
