STUC elects Mary Senior as new president

THE University and College Union (UCU’s) Mary Senior has been elected president of the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC), the first nominee from the union to the position.

The Scotland official, who has more than two decades of experience in the trade union movement and previously served as vice-president, will succeed Jackson Cullinane of Unite, whose term ended following this week’s annual congress.

Ms Senior, who previously worked with GMB, Unison and the STUC, said it was “a tremendous honour.”
