South Korean doctors strike against government medical policy

THOUSANDS of young doctors in South Korea staged a one-day strike today over government medical policy.

The strikers were interns and resident doctors who oppose a plan to expand admissions to medical schools to resolve a shortage of physicians.

The doctors said that the plan would waste taxpayers’ money and nurture low-quality medical schools.
