THE government’s announcement that schools were to close to most children on March 20 to contain the spread of Covid-19 was long overdue in the eyes of National Education Union (NEU) members.
By that point many schools had been forced to shut their doors either because of staff shortages or through lack of students, because parents had removed their children voluntarily.
