Crawley, where more than half of jobs are to be lost or furloughed due to coronavirus, pleads to government for help

RESIDENTS of Crawley town next to Gatwick Airport called on the government for urgent help yesterday to rescue its economy.

The call follows a recent Centre for Cities report, which said that Crawley will be the most affected economy by the Covid-19 outbreak.

More than 50 per cent of jobs are at risk of being lost or furloughed because industries that are most affected by the crisis contribute significantly to the town’s economy, the report found.
