SCOTTISH LABOUR should radially overhaul how candidates are selected to help tackle a disconnect with communities across the country, deputy leadership candidate Matt Kerr said today.

Speaking at a campaign event in Glasgow, Cllr Kerr called for “urgent reform” of the party’s structures and decision-making processes to bring a new generation of talent to the fore.

Launching his policy initiatives alongside activists, fellow councillors and former MPs, Mr Kerr proposed setting aside a spot in the top three of each Scottish Parliament regional list for first-time MSPs.
