OVER 300 protesters demonstrated in Margate in Kent on Saturday in opposition to proposed closures of three stroke units at local hospitals.

The protest organised by Save Our NHS in Kent (Sonik) took place outside Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital (QEQM) in Margate.

District Councillor Candy Gregory, who is a nurse, said: “The demonstration was supported by around 300 people of all political persuasions and none.
