Corbyn bursts Branson's philosophical bubble
The Labour leader suggested the billionaire could pay back the money he got from suing the NHS
Virgin Care received around £2 million of taxpayers’ money after successfully suing six Surrey clinical commissioning groups, the NHS, and Surrey County Council in 2016

JEREMY CORBYN burst Richard Branson’s philosophical bubble today by suggesting the billionaire could pay back the money he got from suing the NHS.

Perhaps our NHS could have the money back from when you sued it? https://t.co/MzIQKs2cqZ

The Virgin founder had taken to Twitter to pontificate about the true necessities of life.

He said: “I truly believe that ‘stuff’ really does not bring happiness.

“Family, friends, good health and the satisfaction that comes from making a positive difference are what really matter.”

But Labour leader Mr Corbyn replied: “Perhaps our NHS could have the money back from when you sued it?”

Virgin Care successfully sued six Surrey clinical commissioning groups (CCGs), the NHS, and Surrey County Council in 2016 over the awarding of a £82 million contract for children’s health services. It claimed there had been “serious flaws” in the procurement procedure.

A year later Virgin Care received around £2 million of taxpayers’ money through out-of-court settlements with those it sued.
