TRAIN drivers’ union Aslef has agreed a two-year pay deal with ScotRail.
The agreement will mean no return to last year’s dispute with the Scottish government-owned operator, which rumbled on until September.
Drivers will now see paternity, maternity and adoption pay boosted in a bid to improve “family friendly conditions” on the railway, as well as a 3.6 per cent pay rise backdated to April 1 2025.
Their union also won a inflation-proofing clause for next year’s pay, guaranteeing 3 per cent or the January 2026 RPI inflation figure, whichever is the higher, from next April.
Aslef Scottish organiser Kevin Lindsay said: “Our members and all railway workers are the glue that binds Scotland's rail services together and this deal, to a large extent, recognises the efforts and contribution that railway workers make to the successful running of ScotRail and indeed to wider society.
“In providing the security of this deal we can all get on with making Scotland’s railways the world-class service that the Scottish public need and deserve.”
Service delivery director Mark Ilderton said Scotrail was “very pleased to have reached agreement” with Aslef, adding: “This deal will allow everyone to focus on delivering a safe, reliable and green railway for our customers.”
