South Korea: Contemptuous Park opts not to testify in court

SOUTH KOREAN President Park Geun Hye refused to testify in her impeachment trial yesterday, prompting prosecutors to ask why she denies charges of corruption outside court but will not do so inside.

The Constitutional Court asked her to testify tomorrow, when current and former aides are also scheduled to give evidence.

The court cannot force her to appear but can proceed without her if she refuses twice to appear at the hearings.
