USDAW: No to new conscription

THE Usdaw conference overwhelmingly rejected a call yesterday for national service to be reintroduced.

A motion debated by delegates claimed it was a good idea as police “can no longer cope with riots, security or disasters.”

It also said bringing back conscription could “solve” the problem of unemployment “especially in areas of deprivation.”
