North Korea: Trump ‘could meet Kim’ as China urges negotiations

CHINA urged WashingtonPyongyang talks yesterday after the US president said he’d be “honoured” to meet North Korea’s leader.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said the US and North Korea needed to take concrete steps toward peace and avoid further escalating the crisis over North Korea’s missile and nuclear programmes.

“Both sides should reach a political resolution as soon as possible,” Mr Geng said. “The most effective way of attaining an improvement is to seek ways to re-establish dialogue and contact.”
