Iraq: Security chief trio sacked after latest sectarian massacre

IRAQI Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi sacked three Baghdad security officials yesterday, a day after Isis claimed a new sectarian massacre in the city of Balad.

The heads of military operations, the security services and intelligence in the capital were sacked for failing to prevent a car bombing that killed at least 186 people.

One anonymous official condemned “accumulated mistakes that cannot be overlooked.
