Many poor families on the brink of losing home

MILLIONS of cash-strapped working families are so “stretched to breaking point” that they could be homeless within a month if they lost their job, new figures showed yesterday.

One in three households in England could not afford to pay their rent or mortgage for more than a month without work, the Shelter and YouGov study found.

The high cost of housing and having little or no personal savings means three million families could be just one pay cheque away from losing their home, the homeless charity said.
