Over the course of two albums, including the recently released Not To Disappear, Daughter have carved out a niche of musical navel-gazing and such lyrical vulnerability brings out the audience’s maternal instinct towards front-woman Elena Tonra.

There’s a virtual group hug from the crowd every time she awkwardly addresses it in a whisper and collective coos of reassurance when she sadly sighs: “Let the water rise/Let the ground crack/Let me fall inside,” over post-shoegaze guitars on Shallows.
