European chiefs make no progress on refugees

FRENCH, German and Greek leaders met on the fringes of the EU summit yesterday to discuss the ongoing Mediterranean refugee crisis.

But little progress was made between Greek Prime Minster Alexis Tspiras, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande.

In a surprise move, Mr Tsipras threatened to withhold his approval for EU reforms sought by British PM David Cameron unless other countries promised not to close their borders to the refugees flooding into his country.
