Korea: Rattled Pyongyang issues dire threats

NORTH KOREA threatened South Korean President Park Geun Hye at the weekend that its military would attack her presidential palace unless she apologise for “treason” and publicly execute officials planning to attack the Pyongyang leadership.

The warning, issued by state media in the name of a Korean People’s Army unit, is the latest in a barrage of threats to Washington and Seoul over annual US-South Korean joint military drills now under way.

North Korea sees the military exercises as a dress rehearsal for invasion by its neighbour.
