TEACHERS are being driven out of the profession or left fearing for their jobs due to abuses of capability procedures, NASUWT members said yesterday.
Research by the union found that black and minority-ethnic, disabled and older teachers are far more likely to be threatened with capability evaluations.
General secretary Chris Keates said: “It is all too common for older women teachers at the top of the pay range to be pressurised and threatened with capability procedures with the sole purpose of driving them out of the profession.
