Don’t be left without these Star sounds

“AS LONG as people have been writing songs, music has been a vehicle for making political points and challenging injustice” says Tony Wright.

He’s the lead singer of The Hurriers, the band who kick off the new Morning Star CD Don’t Be Left Without Us and, when he suggested we celebrate the Morning Star’s 50th anniversary by capturing the spirit and breadth of talent of artists who are “doing a bit for our class,” the response from them was amazing.

Even now, with 34 acts on the CD we have offers from at least a dozen more. Like previous Morning Star compilations it includes names you know, names you don’t, songs you will love and some you won’t.

  • The Morning Star 50th anniversary event starts at 7pm tonight at the 100 Club, 100 Oxford Street, London W1D DLL, tickets £12 on the door. Don’t Be Left Without Us is available from shop.morningstraonline.co.uk, price £10.
