DEFEATD: New Malden boxer Lerrone Richards

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Defending champions and nine-time winners Leinster edged past the Cape Town Stormers 20-11 to set up a repeat of last year’s United Rugby Championship grand final against Pretoria’s Bulls.

The Bulls, who have finished as runners-up in three of the last four seasons, came from 21-3 down to squeeze past Glasgow 22-21 in their semi-final at Murrayfield. Dublin’s Aviva Stadium will host the final in a fortnight’s time.

BOXING: Venezuelan Albert Ramirez retained his interim WBA light-heavyweight title with an unconvincing split decision victory over New Malden’s Lerrone Richards in Montreal.

Ramirez improved his unbeaten record to 23 fights while Richards suffered a second defeat in 21 bouts. In Bournemouth on Saturday night former WBO cruiserweight champion Chris Billam-Smith continued his comeback with an eighth-round stoppage of Canada’s Ryan Rozicki.

SPEEDWAY: Belle Vue captain Brady Kurtz won Saturday’s British Grand Prix on his home track in Manchester to move three points clear of reigning champion Bartosz Zmarzlik in the World Championship.

With six rounds to go, three of which will take place in Poland, Sheffield captain Jack Holder is only seven points behind Zmarzlik in third place.

King’s Lynn’s Max Fricke won Friday’s Grand Prix ahead of Kurtz, Holder and Zmarzlik.

NETBALL: Samantha Wallace-Joseph netted 38 goals as Loughborough Lightning shot with 97 per cent success to brush aside Nottingham Forest 77-57 in Saturday’s Super League minor semi-final.

They will next face London Pulse for a place in the grand final after the defending champions slipped to a narrow defeat 60-56 defeat at Manchester.

Loughborough have been involved in the last five grand finals, winning three of them.
