INDEPENDENCE campaigners announced today that their first march in Wales after Plaid Cymru won the Senedd election will be in Aberystwyth.
YesCymru said the march for independence will be at 1pm on September 26 and will be the first time the town has hosted the campaign.
This is the 11th march for Independence organised by YesCymru and All Under One Banner Cymru (AUOBCymru).
YesCymru’s Aberystwyth’s Sion Jobbins said: “It’s fitting that YesCymru’s first ever March for Independence in mid Wales will be held here.
“Aberystwyth has a special place in the history of the Welsh national movement.”
After the May 2026 Senedd election, 47 per cent of elected members support Welsh independence, marking the highest proportion in the history of the Senedd or the former Assembly.
AUOBCymru’s Hedd Gwynfor said: “Political change does not happen by itself, and it cannot be left to politicians alone.
“We must ensure that independence remains firmly at the top of the political agenda and keep building the campaign in communities across Wales.”
