MEN’S CRICKET: The West Indies are one up when they face Sri Lanka on Friday for the second leg of their two test series at Antigua’s Viv Richards stadium.

Paceman Kemar Roach became only the fifth West Indian to claim 300 test wickets as the hosts eased to a massive innings and 217 run victory in last week’s game.

The win lifted the Windies above Pakistan at the bottom of the World Test Championship table.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Llanelli-based regional side Scarlets, whose future is under threat from Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) reorganisation plans, have announced their third consecutive annual loss of over £2 million.

Turnover, gate receipts, sponsorship and income from the national governing body all decreased.

Scarlets now have debts totalling over £10m, most of it owed to their local council, which owns their ground, and the WRU.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: The League of Ireland continues this evening with table-topping Shamrock Rovers at struggling Sligo and second-placed Bohemians, who are seven points behind the defending champions, away in Drogheda.

Bottom of the table Waterford visit the Brandywell to face Derry, Shelbourne take on Dundalk and third-placed St Patrick’s put the league’s best defensive record on the line when they welcome Galway to west Dublin.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Oldham can move within two points of league leaders London with a win at Batley in this evening’s only Championship fixture.

The Roughyeds have only lost twice this season, are unbeaten since February and saw off Batley 26-6 in the reverse fixture a fortnight ago.

Unbeaten London, whose 100 per cent record now stretches to 15 games, are not in action until Saturday when they face lowly Hunslet.
