CWU members voted overwhelmingly to affiliate to Momentum at the union’s annual conference in Bournemouth yesterday.
Senior deputy general secretary Tony Kearns called on delegates to endorse the national executive committee (NEC) decision last July to affiliate to the campaign group, recognising its “important role” in the 2017 general election.
He hailed the group’s support for CWU members in several election campaigns, including bringing Matt Kerr within 60 votes of becoming MP for Glasgow South West and helping Gareth Eales’s candidacy for the Northampton South constituency.
