PORT workers are to strike next month over pay, transport union RMT announced yesterday.
Employees of logistics and maintenance outfit MacGregors will down tools at sites including Aberdeen, Newcastle and Portsmouth.
RMT said the action, on November 9 and 12, came after “a total failure by the company to come forward with any kind of sensible pay offer.”
RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: “This dispute is about a key group of port-based staff fighting for a fair pay deal that protects and enhances their standard of living.
“This trade union will not accept austerity and attrition in the shipping and offshore industry.
“The company are well aware of the feeling on the ground, reflected in massive votes for action. They should start respecting the views of the workers delivering these highly skilled services.”
Workers will also refuse overtime on November 10 and 11.
