ISRAELI forces shot a 16-year-old Palestinian boy dead with a bullet through his heart as he made his to pray at the al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem at the end of Ramadan today.
Abdullah Ghaith was shot as police claimed he was trying to climb an illegally erected border fence to get from Bethlehem into Jerusalem.
The boy’s father, Louai Ghaith, said: “He was going to fulfil his religious duty, he was going to worship. They killed him … with a bullet to his heart, like a game. For 16 years I’ve been raising him.”
The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed the death and said another 21-year-old Palestinian was wounded by a live bullet to the stomach.
Tensions flared as Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas called for a unified Arab resistance to US President Donald Trump’s so-called “deal of the century” which is already being boycotted by his administration.
Plans to roll out the peace initiative appear to have faltered after Israel dissolved its parliament earlier this week, calling fresh elections for September 17.
