Manchester United yesterday announced a record-breaking £750 million minumum 10-year kit deal with Adidas, starting from the 2015/16 season.
The deal will double what the club earns from current kit makers Nike, who decided not to renew their contract with the Premier League club and ended a 13-year relationship.
The deal also trumps what Arsenal recieved from Puma last week, with the London club’s deal with the German company thought to be around £30m a year.
Adidas currently pay Real Madrid £31m and Chelsea £30m while Barcelona earn £37m a year from Nike.
The new kit sponsorship deal also comes on the back of Chevrolet replacing Aon as the logo on the United shirt.
United are set to earn £51m a year from the new sponsorship with the car manufacturers, nearly double the amount earned under the old sponsors, with the figure rising by 2.1 per cent every year until the 2020-21 season.
Last season, United changed their training ground name from Carrington to the AON Training Complex in a deal worth £160m but stressed they would never sell the naming rights to Old Trafford.
