VUE Cinemas across Britain have banned screenings of the film Blue Story after a fight involving 100 young people kicked off on Saturday night.
Violence broke out at Vue Star City in Birmingham as families lined up to watch the opening of Frozen II, after what is believed to be gang members arriving with machetes.
According to police, two schoolgirls, a boy and a man were arrested and seven police officers were left with minor injuries. The young people arrested did not meet the film’s 15 age certificate.
The cause of the disorder is not yet known but an investigation is underway.
Blue Story is a London gangland drama about two boys from different postcodes whose friendship is “jeopardised by gang violence.”
Despite the violence taking place during another screening, the company have removed the film from all venues.
Twitter users have launched a call to boycott the cinema chain after its decision.
