RAIL fares have risen at twice the speed of wages since the Tories took power, new research reveals today.

With fares rising even higher as the government unveils its retail prices index inflation rate for 2016, the new analysis — released by the TUC and the Action for Rail campaign — shows that the cost of a train ticket has gone up by 25 per cent since 2010, while average weekly earnings have only grown by 12 per cent.
