Labour fights for EU citizens’ rights as Article 50 becomes law

THE Queen signed the Article 50 Bill into law yesterday, giving Prime Minister Theresa May the power to start Brexit negotiations.

Tory MPs cheered as Commons Speaker John Bercow announced that the European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) had received royal assent.

Labour has insisted that the rights of EU nationals living in Britain should be guaranteed, though amendments to the Bill stipulating these demands were rejected in the Commons.
