Honour our decision

BIRMINGHAM Labour MP Gisele Stuart accused Remain supporters who didn’t like the result of the referendum on EU membership yesterday of wanting a rerun under a different heading.

Her immediate target on the Daily Politics show was Scottish National Party Europe spokesman Stephen Gethins whose response confirmed her accusation.

He claimed that the successful Leave side had achieved their aim through offering a “blank piece of paper,” which meant that people voting to quit the EU hadn’t a clue that this would also mean leaving the European single market. Even after being shown an array of pro and anti-Leave campaigners making clear, pre-referendum, that leaving the EU meant ending membership of the single market, Gethins refused to concede the point.
