McDonnell lays into Osborne’s blunder
SHADOW chancellor John McDonnell accused George Osborne yesterday of building his recovery on sand after official figures showed he missed borrowing targets by almost £2 billion.
The Office for National Statistics (ONS) said the Budget deficit stood at £74bn for the financial year ending in March.
However the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) had forecast borrowing to hit £72.2bn for 2015/16, leaving Mr Osborne’s borrowing target overshot by £1.8bn.
The BBC and OBR claim that failing to cut disability benefits could ‘destabilise the economy’ while ignoring the spendthrift approach to tens of billions on military spending that really spirals out of control, argues DIANE ABBOTT MP
