Southern guards prepare for yet more strike action

GUARDS and drivers on Southern trains are set to stage fresh strike action next week in the long-running dispute over driver-only operation, the RMT union announced yesterday.

There will be a 24-hour stoppage by guards on Monday, followed by a walkout by drivers on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

RMT is angry at its “exclusion” from talks between train drivers’ union Aslef and the company and is pressing for a seat at the negotiating table.
