South Sudan: Guerilla chief Machar travels to South Africa
SOUTH SUDAN’S dissident guerilla leader Riek Machar flew to South Africa yesterday but will not seek asylum there, spokesman Mabior Garang said.
On Monday, a spokesman for President Salva Kiir’s government called Mr Machar and his split from the SPLM-IO party “terrorists” and accused them of “targeted killing” based on ethnicity.
Mr Machar fled the capital Juba in July after clashes between his party and Mr Kiir’s original SPLM.
