Election court scuppers bid to unseat Scots’ last Lib Dem over leak lie
SCOTLAND’S only Lib Dem MP yesterday survived an attempt to annul his election in court after he leaked a secret government memo.
Four of Alistair Carmichael’s constituents launched a bid to oust him from his Orkney and Shetland seat, which they funded through a public appeal.
They claimed he misled voters by leaking a confidential memo which wrongly claimed that Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon wanted David Cameron to remain in Downing Street at the general election.
