‘Rule of the financiers left British steelmaking defenceless’
BRITISH STEEL has been left defenceless by the ascendancy of finance capital in manufacturing, a top Labour MEP told the Star yesterday.
Six thousand steelworkers from across 18 European countries descended on the European Commission in Brussels yesterday, blasting the EU for failing to protect steelmaking from cheap foreign imports.
Britain’s own steel sector has suffered over 3,000 job losses since the autumn.
