McDonnell ‘furious’ at CPGB-ML flags

SHADOW chancellor John McDonnell said yesterday he was “furious” to find he had spoken in front of Communist Party of Great Britain Marxist-Leninist (CPGB-ML) flags at May Day.

The CPGB-ML is a small party associated with the teachings of Harpal Brar.

Mr McDonnell was quizzed on Radio 4 about standing in front of the red flags adorned with a hammer and sickle in a star, following a complaint about his attending the May Day rally when some attendees carried portraits of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin.
