THE Civil Service is too understaffed to cope with the demands of Brexit, a union warned yesterday as PM Theresa May formally triggered Article 50.
The Public and Commercial Services (PCS) union said that the civil service, which is already under strain after seven years of spending cuts, will struggle to navigate the challenges of withdrawing from the EU.
On top of this a recent National Audit Office (NAO) report also found that departments “do not know what skills they have, whether these are in the right place and what additional skills they need.”
