BRITAIN’S left should turn to the “politics of hope” in Greece for inspiration following the general election, TSSA general secretary Manuel Cortes said yesterday.
Addressing delegates at Aslef’s conference in Southend, Mr Cortes said: “The politics of hope defeated the politics of fear” in Greece, which saw the left-wing Syriza party rise to power in a snap election earlier this year.
“And that is a lesson for the people of this country. Because I know that the politics of hope can trump the politics of fear. A victory for the Greek people is a victory for you and a victory for me.
