McDonnell first shadow chancellor at NPC event
SHADOW chancellor John McDonnell will become the first ever holder of his office to address the Pensioners’ Parliament this week.
The annual National Pensioners Convention (NPC) event starts in Blackpool tomorrow.
Mr McDonnell is expected to reveal details of an Older People’s Commission Labour intends to set up to tackle pensioner poverty and other issues facing the elderly such as the cost of care and Tory bids to increase the retirement age.
