Neoliberals: be nice to quash dissent
May’s posturing draws derision from Labour

THERESA MAY drew widespread derision yesterday after stating that neoliberals must respond to the anxieties of “ordinary people” to quash dissent over globalisation.

In a speech to political and business leaders at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the Prime Minister warned they must secure the public’s permission for continuing a system that has delivered “unprecedented levels of wealth” for those she described as “winners.”

She admitted that this “cult of individualism” has left many people feeling left behind but claimed she had a post-Brexit plan that would ensure that free trade would “work for everyone.”
