Teachers warn of shambles in the classrooms

CUTS to school budgets have led to overcrowded classrooms, a shortage of books and a swarm of unqualified teachers, new research by the National Union of Teachers reveals today.

The revelations come as teachers lobby Parliament today calling for an end to education cuts in the government’s comprehensive spending review.

Three-quarters of heads have voiced concern over budget cuts, according to reps surveyed by the NUT.
