Free market won’t save steel
WHEN an employers’ trade group as substantial as UK Steel launches a no-holds-barred attack on David Cameron’s government, it signifies difficult times ahead for the Tories.
When that attack is unleashed just as Business Secretary Sajid Javid is travelling to pay a belated visit to the threatened Port Talbot steel works, it indicates that tea and sympathy won’t crack the problem.
Javid’s jolly to Australia — part trade trip, part family holiday — was truncated after he’d only had time to make one speech.
