LABOUR’S John McDonnell will warn today that Tory plans to close HM Revenue & Customs offices make Google tax rows more likely.
The shadow chancellor will join PCS union members, many of whom face losing their jobs, at a protest outside Parliament.
In his speech, he will say: “Closing almost all of HMRC’s offices will devastate a department whose funding continues to be slashed by the Tories while they offer mates’ rates that let corporate giants off the hook on tax.” The union has not ruled out industrial action over the job cuts.
