Film: Moon Man (U)

A great and heartfelt story which will captivate all ages

Moon Man (U)

Directed by Stephan Schesch

5 Stars

Based on the classic children's book by Tomi Ungerer, Moon Man is written, directed and produced by Stephan Schesch, who stays close to the original.

In it, the Moon Man leaves his "shimmering seat in space" every night to look down on the happy, dancing people on Earth, wishing he could join them.

One day, miraculously, he hitches a ride on a passing comet, lands on terra firma and realises his dream to dance with humans.

But Earth is a world dominated by a cruel president who, after conquering all the land on his planet, wants to conquer the Moon.

Thus Moon Man is jailed, wrongly accused by the president of being an invader, but he eventually escapes and returns home.

The film's a gentle and satirical children's adventure which, as a classic fairy tale, employs the warmth and grandeur of hand-drawn animation.

It's a great and heartfelt story which will captivate all ages.
