PPP talks cut due to Nestle link

Public Private Partnership conference is called off after major groups pull out

Health charity Diabetes Scotland blamed organisers’ wooing of multinational Nestle yesterday for their decision to pull out of a major conference — leading to the event’s cancellation.
The Swiss multinational’s gold sponsor status meant it would be presenting alongside high-profile contributors such as NHS directors and charity chief executives at the Building a Healthier, Fairer Scotland conference at Dynamic Earth, next to the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on May 27.
Health charity Diabetes Scotland pulled out after conference organiser P3 failed to confirm that Nestle would not be a sponsor.
They were joined by the Scottish Public Health Network. A representative said: “We will be recommending to colleagues that they should not attend or participate in your conference.”
