Cameron’s jet-set supporters revealed

PRIVATE jet owners spent more than £30,000 flying David Cameron across the country during the final days of the general election, Electoral Commission figures revealed yesterday.

Sovereign Business Jets registered non-cash donations with the commission worth £32,236 between May 4 and polling day, May 7.

That was for the use of a private plane used by the Tories to ferry the Prime Minister between battleground seats during the campaign.

The company’s directors, Anastasia Sergeef and Serge Sergeef, were among wealthy individuals who attended one of the Tories’ leaders’ group meals.

Mr Cameron and Chancellor George Osborne wined and dined business bosses at a series of secretive meals last year.

The Tory PM would have been treated to an in-flight meal prepared by “award-winning chefs,” according to Sovereign Business Jet’s website.

Their donation was one of six made by companies in the final three days of the campaign, the biggest a £50,000 cheque from real estate firm Clerewell.

Six wealthy individuals also rushed the Tories huge sums as polls wrongly showed that they risked being hit by the mansion tax under a Labour government.

Tory Lord Dolar Popat gave £50,000, while a Mr Thomas Hall donated £10,000 on election day.

In the same period, Labour received a single donation of more than £7,500 from Toni and Guy hairdressers.

The Electoral Commission’s final declaration of donations found the Tories received £6,100,588 — more than £100,000 more than Labour during the campaign.
