Academy chiefs ‘are building up empires’
Ofsted chief says education suffering under bosses’ ambition
ACADEMY chains are more bothered with “empire-building” than educating kids, Ofsted chief and Tory schools policy cheerleader Sir Michael Wilshaw said yesterday.
Mr Wilshaw, who formerly headed a flagship academy, told MPs that a number of multi-academy trusts “have been allowed to grow far too quickly.”
But teaching unions said this was down to the government “continuously ignoring” the “lack of oversight” for academies.
