Teachers dragged to court as Morgan tries to stop strike

THE GOVERNMENT is dragging teachers to the High Court today in a bid to scupper strikes over funding cuts to sixth-form colleges.

National Union of Teachers (NUT) college tutors voted for a one-day national strike over the effect of “inadequate funding” from the Department for Education (DfE).

Eighty-six per cent of members voted to strike tomorrow before Chancellor George Osborne’s Budget on Wednesday on a 44 per cent turnout, which the DfE has decided to challenge at the Royal Courts of Justice.
