May clears path for third runway
Campaigners see red but unions welcome green light for Heathrow expansion
THERESA MAY signalled take-off for a third runway at Heathrow airport yesterday.
The Prime Minister moved to head off Cabinet resignations by allowing ministers a time-limited period in which they can oppose the expansion.
However the local Conservative Association confirmed that Zac Goldsmith intended to honour his pledge to resign and force a by-election in Richmond Park and Kingston North in protest against the decision.
