McDonnell: Labour will stand up for Britain’s pensioners

LABOUR will protect state pension increases and ensure justice for women hit by higher retirement ages, shadow chancellor John McDonnell pledged yesterday.

Mr McDonnell promised to maintain the “triple lock” — where the state pension goes up by the highest out of the increase in average wages, inflation or 2.5 per cent — on a visit to an Age UK centre in Coventry.
